Hastings Farm The Cottages Facilities The Area Late Availability Home Links The Area Situated in true Hardy country close to the hamlet of Tincleton in South Dorset there are many fine walks nearby both woodland and beside the River Frome as it winds its way through the valley to Poole Harbour and the sea. Dorset's coast (recently awarded World Heritage status and known as the Jurassic Coast) varies from the superb and safe sandy beach at Studland, the dramatic Isle of Purbeck, the spectacular Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, Portland Bill and beyond to the famous Chesil Beach. Weymouth, less than 10 miles away, has a picturesque fishing harbour, beaches and traditional seaside attractions, a Sea Life Centre and Brewer's Quay. Poole (18 miles) with its ever popular pottery, has a wonderful natural harbour which shelters Brownsea Island (reached by boat from the quay). Both Poole and Weymouth offer many opportunities for watersports of all kinds. There are many National Trust properties in the area as well as fine churches and country houses, such as nearby Athelhampton, and Corfe and Lulworth Castles. The historic market town of Dorchester is just 4 miles away and has much to interest visitors of all ages, the Dinosaur Museum is a must for most children and the County Museum with its fine Thomas Hardy collection. Excellent fishing is available at several places within the area also within 5 miles there are three golf courses and an indoor heated swimming pool with flume, wave machine and beach. Weymouth also offers cinemas and ten pin bowling. Tower Park in Poole has ten-pin bowling, water slides and cinemas. The nearby village of Puddletown has a good village shop with bread baked on the premises and a traditional butchers counter and deli section as well as the normal range of groceries and newspapers.
